Teaching steps:
Step 1. Greeting
Greet the Ss as usual.
Step 2. Revision
Show some pitcures to the students and ask the students to look at the flashcards and answer questions using the present progressive tense.
Step 3. Presentation and new words:
1. Ask What day is it today? What’s the date today? How’s the weather today? Teach the new word weather.
2. Teach the new words rain, rainy, raining, sunny, cloudy, snow, snowy, snowing, windy by showing the folloing pictures.
3. Practice the new words.
Step 4.Look and learn(根据目标,利用上面图片学习并反复操练下面句型。)
A: How’s the weather?/What’s the weather like?
B: It’s sunny/rainy/windy/snowy/….
It’s raining/snowing.
Step 5. Look, learn and practice
1. Look and say out the names of the cities.
2. Look and answer the question How’s the weather in Beijing/Shanghai/…?
3. Ask and answer in groups.
Step 6. Look and guess.
Show the students three pictures. Look at the things the bear brings and ask the students to guess how the weather is.
Step 7. Look and match.
1. Open the books at Page 31 and look at 1a . Read the words twice.
2. Ask the students to match the words with the pictures.
3. Check their answers: raining-1;windy-e;cloudy-d;sunny-b;snowing-c.
Step 8. Listening
1. Ask the students to look at 1b. Let the students read the cities twice.
2. Tell the students they will hear four conversations. Listen and write the city names in the boxes above.
3. Play the tape twice or three times for the students to listen.
4. Check their answers: a-Toronto;b-Beijing;c-Moscow;d-Shanghai;e-Boston.
Step 9. Pairwork
1. Show the flashcards and let two students read the sample conversation.
2. Ask the students to talk about the weather in pairs according to the listening answers.
3. Then ask some pairs to act out their conversations.
Step10. Homework
1. Talk about the weather.
2. Copy the new words and sentences five times.
