To enable the Ss to understand and speak:

(2) Use the sentences and words to communicate with others.
As we all know: the main instructional aims of learning English in primary school is to cultivate pupils’ basic abilities of listening and speaking and their good sense of the English language. So in this lesson I’ll mainly use “Task-based” teaching method. That is to say, I will let the Ss learn in real situations, finish a task by working in a group to help the Ss to get a better understanding of the key structure of the dialogue. I will arrange four kinds of activities: Let’s sing, “speak-out” game, show time and having a competition. And in this lesson a recorder, CAI, school things and a printed form will be needed. Students should prepare some school things.
VI. Teaching procedures and purposes of my designing.
I’ll finish this lesson in five steps.
Step 1. Warm-up
1. Broadcast the song of “The panda” and sing the song together.
2. Free talk between T and Ss:
What day is it today?
What do you have for lunch today?
What can you do?
Can you do housework?
Can you clean the bedroom?
Step 2. Show a picture of Let’s find out:
T: ---Look! This is the sky. What color is it? What’s this?
---What can you see in picture 1 / picture 2?
---Which picture do you like? (We can tell the Ss something about protecting the environment )
Purpose: It is important to form a better English learning surrounding for the Ss by singing and doing some total physical response. At the same time it provides situations to review learned knowledge for the next step.
Step 3. Presentation
1. Show a picture, and ask: “ what’s in the picture?”
----A nature park. What can you see in it? (When students can use the words, like tree, sky and so on, we can present the new words: mountain, forest, river, grass, path, lake, cloud, flower by the word cards and video. Then make the students pay more attention to the pronunciation of these words.)
2. Show the picture and ask again: “What’s in the picture/nature park?” Let the students answer it freely. Then spread the picture, and ask: “What else can you see?” Guide them answer the question by using the new words----“There is a lake/mountain/forest/river/path in the nature park.” And listen to the tape and read the new words. Make sure they can read it correctly.
3. Play a “speak-out” game. Divide the whole class into four groups to have a competition------look at the picture and speak out the words.
Purpose: To present the key structures one by one is much easier for the Ss to learn and grasp the meanings. Proper competition can arouse the Ss’ interest in English learning.
4. Tell the students, protecting the environment is very important.
Pay attention to their pronunciation and intonation. Purpose: CAI can provide a real situation for the Ss to understand the dialogue and the relationships between people better. Tell the Ss we should show our loveliness to the Ss.
Step 3. Consolidation and extension
1. Show the picture of Let’s find out. Let the Ss give us an introduction:
There is a mountain/forest/river in the nature park.
Then show the second picture and ask: “Is it a nature park? What’s in it? What differences can you find? (Encourage the Ss in finding the differences between the picture3 and picture4 and encourage Ss to express themselves by using the new words)
2. Broadcast a beautiful song and let students close their eyes, imaging a picture in their mind.
3. Divide Ss into groups. Let them design a nature park. Five minute later, let them give us a presentation. For example, Look at the… There is a river in the nature park. The water is clean. It’s so beautiful.
Purpose: Task-based teaching method is used here to develop Ss’ ability of communication and also their ability of co-operation will be well trained.
Step 4. Assessment
Finish A Let’s learn part in workbook. Then check the answer and let the students ask many questions
Purpose: To check the knowledge Ss have learned in this period.
Step 5. Add-activity
Let Ss tell each other about their design.
Purpose: Revision is so important that Ss should speak English as much as they as in class or after class. It is necessary for the Ss to do some extensive exercises after class to consolidate the knowledge they learned.
