Municipal Outstanding Student, Excellent Student Cadre, Brilliant Flagman, Outstanding Class Contributor, which are my distinguished labels I have got during my high school. Anyway, I’m ***, a high school graduate from Lishui High School— one of the best in ZhejiangProvince. Regardless of all the achievements I have made, my next step into a successful career in Business will definitely begin with advanced higher education, which is what I’m acting on with persistence and why I’m applying for your esteemed university. I have been drawing up a blueprint for my future and it’s my honor now to illustrate it for you.

   Influenced by family background of doing domestic and international business, I have read a lot of books and newspapers about business, including The Economic Naturalist by Robert Frank, The Wall Street Journal and Dow Theory. Besides, I have also collected a huge amount of materials on micro and macro economy, and I’m now taking StanfordUniversity public lecture on Game Theory, which has been widely recognized as an important tool in business field. For my future study plan and research, I have a set of my own theory as below:  

   As a freshman, it’s necessary for me to widen my horizon and cultivate my interests by acquiring basic theoretical knowledge in a range of subjects, such as statistics, accounting and economy, which will definitely lay a solid foundation for my future study in Business. It's just like the procedure of spreading seeds in different soils, searching the most suitable one for sprouting, digging it out and absorbing the essence from the soil. Considering

   the trend of interdisciplinary, when I’m in senior year, I plan to learn related subjects, such as econophysics and behavioral finance. I think we can learn some methods which are used in the natural science and human behavior that can be transplanted to the science of finance. I believe that there’re also possibilities of finding out the correspondences of Newton’s Three Laws of Motion in finance field.

    When I was in junior school, I used to make virtual stock exchange. After Shanghai Stock Exchange Composite Index reached back to 1800 point, which was exactly the same as 5 years ago, I bought in SANY (600031) with RMB 20,000 I led from my mum in January 2009. At that time, I made this decision based on my careful deduction. The trade volume in stock market was becoming larger, 30 day’s moving average was surpassing half and one year’s and Chinese government had just announced Stimulus Package Plans to boost economy. With national real economy increasing by 9% per year, I assumed that the   prospect of stock had been greatly underestimated, while the fact proved that I was correct. Within one year, the profit of my shares increased by 64%. Through the actual operation, I got familiar with reading balance sheet and had a good master of basic knowledge in every walk of life and basic mathematical tools, such as moving average, RSI and DCF.  

    My father’s option dealing in real estate market, which has help him earn impressive profit, also plays a great importance in my choice of studying Finance. I realized that finance is frequently applied in our daily life and being skill in finance can make us get out of capital risks and make huge profits. Inspired by this event, I designed by myself a model of Option Price of Agricultural goods. Although there are some defects in it, I will try to polish it after my professional knowledge in finance gets improved.

    In addition to the academic performance at school, I participated in a number of extracurricular activities. I had been a waiter in restaurant and a volunteer in orphanage. In the school, I recruited other volunteers to donate school and living supplies to the orphans. In orphanage, we played games, enjoyed ourselves in painting and communicated with each other. From the activity, I learn that what the children need is not only material support, but more spiritual 

assistance. I felt encouraged to help them to build their confidence and get out of their lonely and dark mental world.

    On campus, I had run for election to be a minister in Student Union, made public presentation after it, planned for events and organized parties, which allowed me to practice my tact to do job well, take more responsibilities and cooperate well with others. Before every big event, I have to rehearse every step, even the tiniest one. There was a less cooperative staff that had made a big mistake when we worked together. At that time I realized that being friend means much more than pure colleagues and “use the right man for the right job” is the winning factors if we want to make things happen, so I gradually got acquainted with him. At last, he became my best partner and friend. Through our efforts, we had successfully and excellently completed several big activities.

      I choose to further my study in America, which will open my door to the world. I have had study tours to European countries. My experience of living together with local families left me an impression that although they didn’t show any discrimination, there’re less tolerance and enthusiasm for foreign cultures. Instead, America is known as a melting port. I believe I will enter into the diverse cultures and learn from them. Furthermore, America is undoubtedly recognized to be the global finance center, thus I will be able to have access to first-class faculty and facility, rich financial resources and the most advanced knowledge. Always being the top student in my high school, I’m sure I will also make great academic achievement in your university. I appreciate your opportunity for me very much. Thank you!
